Empty Checking #3 - July 16, 2010 - A Tribute to Harvey Pekar

This week's podcast is 99% devoted to one topic only.  I do give quick, one-sentence(ish) reviews of some comic books I picked up this week...but mostly, it's a tribute to the creator of "American Splendor," and a personal hero of mine, Harvey Pekar.  Harvey died on July 12, and a tribute on my podcast is the LEAST I can do to honor someone whose work has meant so much to me.  Sit back, relax, grab yourself some orange soda (Harvey's favorite) and enjoy.

Oh...and I'd rate this one PG-13.  I warned you in advance, so no blogger break-up letters, okay f-word Nazis?

Plus -- Check it out!  New audio player, right here on the page!

Or here's a download link, if the player doesn't work.

(Most of) My Harvey Pekar collection:

Comics also read/reviewed (VERY briefly):
  • Justice League: Generation Lost - Issue #5
  • Batman - Issue 701
  • The Unwritten - Issue #15
  • The Sixth Gun - Issues 1 & 2
  • The Calling: Cthulhu Chronicles
  • The Uncanny X-Men - "One Shot" Heroic Age tie-in
Forecast:
I'll get back to proper reviews next week.  Going to Chicago to see Iron Maiden and Dream Theater this week, so expect a full review of that.  Might pick up a thing or two, as well...we'll see.  :)

But for now, I mostly just wanted to say goodbye to a grumpy, grumpy, awesome man.
