Episode 94 - "I'm Pressed for Time in My Imagination"

In this slightly shorter episode I talk about music from the Bottle Rockets in light of the announcement of Brian Henneman's retirement from the group, and also give my thoughts on Doctor Who and Star Trek: Picard. I also talk about oatmeal and beer and stuff like that, too. It's a fun one! Here's the player:

And here are some photos:
Cover photo...because I started doing this and now it's just part of the format!

My favorite Bottle Rockets album, which I mention in the episode. Named after the actual South Broadway Athletic Club in St. Louis. They took photos in front of the building for the liner notes and everything. Pretty neat.

Now that I'm writing the post I can't remember if I mentioned this in the show or just in the Facebook post I wrote about it... But this is an autographed poster from the time I saw the band play all of the above album with my brother at Vintage Vinyl. They did a signing afterward and I took this poster home. It's hung in my living room for about six years and I've never gotten tired of looking at it. Really cool art and also a nice memory. (It is presently sandwiched between a Les Miserables poster and a Pixies poster.)

Me with my Rickenbacker 360. I was inspired to buy it after seeing Brian Henneman play one and just falling in LOVE with the sound. Interesting thing about this guitar is I've got a defective volume pot. It doesn't turn off properly on the "treble" side. Not too much of a pain because I tend to be a "set it and forget it" guy, using my tuner pedal to turn my guitar "off" when needed. But for what you pay for a Ric I really should've taken it back and gotten it fixed. But hey...it adds character. And subtracts in re-sale value...

Season 12 (or like 907 in reality) of Doctor Who. I wasn't sure about the new writing team in Season 11, but in 12 they really brought their A-game and continued to bring it in the New Year's special. Check it out, if you've been on the fence.

SO FUCKING GOOD. I cannot gush about this show enough. It's just deeply moving and fun. I know you've heard the gatekeepers talk about the "problems" with it...but fuck those guys. Watch it for yourself and judge for yourself. You'll thank yourself (and me?) for it later. (And also, remember that the first season of almost every Trek series is usually the weakest one...but in this case, if this was the weakest season, then season 2 is going to just DESTROY me!)

...bought a neat shirt related to Picard. The Chateau Picard winery actually exists, and they produce wine for sale. Which...which I'm going to have to buy...obviously...
