Hi Checkmates. Since the last episode went up the bad week I was having that week followed me into this one. After some real curveballs (not least of which was a daylong internet outage) I'm just plain not going to be able to get an episode together this week. Very sorry.
Next time we get together I plan to have plenty of music to talk about though! Some new stuff some old stuff I never circled around to, and so on. And I'll yell about stuff in my life for a while too, I bet.
It snowed in St. Louis this week with more to (possibly?) follow over the next 24 hours. I shoveled my driveway today that was covered in the 5-7 inches we got in this part of town. I also shoveled part of my STREET because the plow dumped about a 4 FOOT pile of snow right in front of my driveway.
So I had a brief thought when I got up this morning that *maybe* I could get an episode together and online before I went to bed...but after spending an hour doing more physical activity than I've done in the whole of the time since the pandemic started, I simply didn't have the strength to set up the microphone. And now it's after 2 a.m. and my back hurts so much I can't sleep, so I'm writing this...
Hope you're warm and happy and safe where-ever you are. I've got friends and family in Texas who are in a bad way right now because of systemic failures and bad ideas coming out of the TX utility companies, who can keep the lights on through entire 100-degree summers but not 48 hours of cold temperatures. I'm sure most people will be okay by the time we do another episode, but until then, please take care of each other.
